Poverty Measurement
2010 Social Gap Index at Municipal Level and by Locality

The Social Gap Index (IRS) orders federal entities, municipalities and localities from higher to lower social gap in a moment in time.

It is a measurement in wich a single index includes the variables of education, access to health services, household , basic services at home, home quality and spaces, and household assets. That is to say, it provides the summary of four of the social deprivations CONEVAL uses for poverty measurement: educational gap, access to healthcare, access to basic services at home and home quality and spaces.

It is not a poverty measurement, for it does not incorporate the indicators of income, social security and access to food. This index allows having disaggregated information on social indicators down to a locality level, with which CONEVAL contributes in the generation of data for decision-making in matters of social policy, especially to analyze the inequality of social coverage that prevails within the national territory.

The data presented is related to the 2010 estimations at state and municipal level and by locality based on the 2010 General Census of Population and Housing. With this delivery we now count with the social gap indexes for 2000, 2005 and 2010.
